One of my favorite ways to choose joy is through writing down what I’m grateful for each morning. I know, gratitude feels like a buzzword because Thanksgiving is right around the corner, but the truth is, we can maintain a spirit of thanksgiving year-round!
Being thankful is more than just a “feel good” practice to remember when crisp air greets us and bright leaves fall; it’s how we live in God’s will.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV) says, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Paul’s words are guiding lights to fix our hearts and minds upon in all seasons. Rejoice. Pray. Give thanks. Repeat.
Gratitude heightens our awareness of God’s goodness. Even when we don’t feel an ounce of gratitude in our bones, Paul’s words encourage us to dig deeper. There is always something to be thankful for!
As we enter into the holiday season, I pray you feel encouraged to choose joy through expressing gratitude each day. You are loved! Rejoice, pray, and give thanks.
What are you thankful for today? If a person comes to mind, tell them you’re thankful for them!
